What were you expecting?
Expecting a workshop.
More of a touchy feely thing, an uncomfortable experience of a complete stranger trying to jolly us all along into team building.

 

What surprised you?
The abundance of information from a a single question.

It wasn't awkward. I was very pleased.

How easy it was to talk and open up.

I was surprised to be given some interesting tools for personal development.

What did you learn about yourself and others?

Similarities.

I learned from the question part about using past experiences to build confidence.

We all have life experiences and dreams. We are more alike that I originally thought.

What was new for you?

Learning more about each other.

I'm new working with this group so it was nice for me to get to know the people I'm working with.

Learning more about the people on the team.

Would you like to have another session like this?

Yes, it is great to know how fascinating our co-workers are.

Yes, the speaker didn't try to be our best friend. He was very respectful of the fact the he was an 'outsider.'

Yes it was a great way to get to know co-workers.

 

How could you use these ideas?
In most situations.

To find commonalities and bring things into the office .

Trying harder to meet someone when for example, on a ferry.

Why did you enjoy it
The exchange of information.

I learned more about my colleagues. We physically sit near one another but don't communicate much.

I always enjoy talking to people, and I could hear what others like.

It was not contrived. We didn't have to do anything silly.
